Right Plant, Right Place Design Goal: Re-design and replace two struggling gardens. Two entryway borders needed appropriate plant choices to thrive where existing gardens struggled against inadequate light, soil and water requirements. Plants in raised borders off drive and house entry needed division, transplanting, and semi-shade loving plants. With timed irrigation, renovated borders create a lush entry experience. Appropriate plant choices for full sun, supplementation of acidic soil, and drip irrigation resolved the sparse, colorless planting. A happy, healthy new garden provides colorful views from two oft used porches, and habitat for birds, bees, butterflies.
